Funding Boost for the New Year

We are delighted to say that Our Time has been chosen as the latest winner of Ansvar Insurance’s Donations Programme!

The fund goes to charities that help children and young people make good lifestyle choices, and promote mental well-being. It’s been awarded to Our Time to expand our schools programme, through which we empower both pupils and teachers to talk about, and understand, parental mental illness. As well as providing resources for lessons, we help teachers recognise students who have a parent with poor mental health, and we give them the confidence and the tools to support these young people. They can become the trusted adult that all children of a parent with a mental illness should have. We also support schools to foster a whole-school culture of openness about mental health and well-being.

We are very grateful to Ansvar Insurance for its generous support and recognition of our work.

In addition to the fantastic funding boost from Ansvar, we have also been successful in securing a grant from Shaftesbury Young People for a groundbreaking drama project. Working in collaboration with Haringey Shed, a theatre company for young people, and the children who come to our Haringey KidsTime Workshop, we’re creating a play about having a parent with a mental illness.

The play will build on themes central to all we do at Our Time, such as showing these young people they are not alone, and tackling the stigma around parental mental illness. Once ready, it will be offered to all local primary schools, a fantastic opportunity to reach hundreds of vulnerable pupils with important messages about mental health, strengthening resilience, and providing hope and reassurance for the future. If successful, we hope to roll this project out more widely.

A big thank you to Shaftesbury Young People for helping us make this happen!
