We are delighted to have been awarded a grant by The Worshipful Company of Grocers.
The funds will enable the delivery of a project designed to train staff in 10 primary schools in the London Borough of Ealing so that they are better able to support children (primary school pupils) affected by a parent who has a mental illness.
The grant will provide more supportive school/classroom environments for these vulnerable children and will recruit and train primary school teachers to improve their awareness and understanding of parental mental illness and its impact on children. It will equip teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to identify and support these children in a school context; will provide bespoke resources and materials to use in their schools including directly with affected children; will raise awareness; and will up-skill other school staff.
The project will also enable schools to work together as an on-going local collaborative to share issues and effective practice in identifying and supporting primary school children affected by parental mental illness.
We are grateful to The Worshipful Company of Grocers for their kind and generous donation.
