Our Time meets the Queen at Windsor

On Tuesday, 2nd April, Our Time was invited to attend a reception hosted by the Queen at Windsor Castle to celebrate the centenary of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations.  The NCVO represents a diverse community of over 14,000 member organisations of all sizes – a third of the voluntary sector workforce in England.

Helena Kulikowska, Development Director, represented the charity and joined representatives from over 200 charities in meeting her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who greeted each of the attendees individually and thanked them for their contribution to the sector.  This was a fantastic opportunity for Our Time to raise its profile and campaign to raise awareness of children of parents with a mental illness.

Helena had the opportunity to speak to Princess Anne who has been an active patron and supporter of young carers projects and organisations for many years.  The Princess asked about the charity and its interventions, and recognised the challenges involved in identifying and engaging hidden young carers in our society.  The event provided a rare and unique opportunity to celebrate the collective work of charities and volunteers, and Our Time would like to thank the NCVO for the opportunity to take part!
